Earth's Current Climate

Global average temperatures are rising, and there is a 97 percent consensus among publishing climate scientists that human activities are extremely likely the cause (NASA). 

There is consensus among major climate research facilities that climate change exists and is human-made (Figure 1).

  • Carbon dioxide now makes up 408.0 parts per million  of our atmosphere, the highest level in 650,000 years (Figure 2).

  • Global average temperatures have risen 1.8 degrees  Fahrenheit since 1880 (NASA 2019).
